Dealing With It

Developing in the workplace is a roller coaster. Everyone around us is attempting to succeed while fitting the mold, yet remaining themselves in a world full of opportunity. Each jumping toward that goal so high on the corporate ladder. It's not often you are faced with change, especially a cultural change within an organization, but every once in a while that fearful "c" word comes to surface. After stepping out of the grieving phase of change, an employee or person of change, can begin to experience the new system, or in this case, culture, with new admiration. I'm trying to come to terms with the compliments and praise that I use to struggle to hear. In the profit world, most situations were difficult at best; perhaps it wasn't the profit world, but the engineering world, and I am not an engineer! In this new light, compliments are so easily given, that the fog of satisfaction no longer has a lasting effect. I am not hazed any longer, so I do not know what that could mean for what challenges might lay ahead.

  1. I enjoyed reading this, but it makes me nervous about the future possibility of joining the workforce. At home, I am the boss, and my three little employees love me. I like it here. But one can't pay the bills in hugs and kisses.
